Our commitment
The Equal Opportunities Network is committed to making this website accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. We work to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our target conformance standard.
Technical approach
We use semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and keyboard-navigable components throughout the site. All meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text, and all form inputs have visible labels.
- Semantic HTML5 elements for headings, lists, and navigation
- ARIA roles and labels on interactive components
- Keyboard focus is visible and logical across all pages
- All video content includes captions and, where available, sign language
- Downloadable documents are accompanied by accessible HTML summaries
Testing
This site is tested using a combination of automated tools and manual review. Testing covers screen reader compatibility (NVDA, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, and mobile accessibility.
- Automated scans using axe-core on each deployment
- Manual review with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
- Keyboard-only navigation testing across main user flows
- Regular review of color contrast on all text elements
Known limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility may be limited. We are actively working to address each of these.
- Some older PDF documents have not yet been remediated for screen reader access — accessible HTML versions are being added
- Video content uploaded before January 2024 may lack captions — recaptioning is underway
- The partner forum (behind login) is currently being audited and improved
Browser and assistive technology support
We support current and previous major versions of browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We aim for compatibility with the following assistive technologies.
- NVDA with Firefox and Chrome on Windows
- VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS
- TalkBack with Chrome on Android
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking on Windows
